The book is published in conjunction with a\u00a0major retrospective<\/a> of the Crochet Coral Reef<\/em> project at Museum Frieder Burda in Baden Baden, Germany. Containing essays about the scientific, mathematical, environmental, feminist, and artistic dimensions of this world-wide, fiber-arts happening, the volume is lavishly illustrated with 200 photos including documentation of the extraordinary new Baden Baden Satellite Reef,<\/em> the largest community reef to date, with over 40,000 coral pieces. The event coincides with an exhibition<\/a>\u00a0at Hauser & Wirth gallery of new generation quilts inspired by and in homage to the legendary Gee’s Bends quilters, who were also one of the inspirations for the Crochet Coral Reef’s <\/em>radical re-imagining of collaborative, intergenerational, female craft practice.<\/p>\n
