IFF Director Margaret Wertheim has been awarded the 2017\u00a0Scientia Medal<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0for science communication by the University of New South Wales, Australia. Given annually, along with the Bragg Prize<\/em>\u00a0for science writing, the medal has previously been won by Stephen & Lucy Hawking, and Scottish geologist\/broadcaster Professor Ian Stewart.\u00a0The award ceremony will take place at the launch of the book Best Australian Science Writing 2017,<\/em>\u00a0at the Australian Museum, Sydney, November 7 2017.<\/p>\n

UNSW Dean of Science\u00a0Professor Emma Johnston<\/strong>\u00a0and Chief Executive of UNSW Press\u00a0Kathy Bail<\/strong>\u00a0invite you to the launch of\u00a0The Best Australian Science Writing 2017\u00a0<\/em>and announcement of the 2017 Bragg UNSW Press Prize for Science Writing.<\/p>\n

Internationally noted science writer, artist and curator\u00a0Margaret Wertheim<\/strong>\u00a0will launch the anthology.<\/p>\n

In recognition of her enormous contribution to science communication, Wertheim will be presented with the\u00a0UNSW Scientia Medal for Science Communication\u00a0<\/strong>at this special event.<\/p>\n

UNSW President & Vice-Chancellor\u00a0Professor Ian Jacobs<\/strong>\u00a0will also announce the winners of the Bragg student prizes for science writing.<\/p>\n
